Painting sunflower #1

11 days ago by mariescottstudios

Here's the background for sunflower #1. After getting the other 4 sunflowers in progress, I felt like the background on this one didn't match. So I'm going to add some lighter blues to the sky so that it blends better with my series. Here's the new sky after adding lots of lighter blues. It's a subt ...

Today I am starting Sunflower #5. Here's the sketch I made on the canvas before I start painting. I always start painting the background first and work my way forward. Today I began by painting the sky. Once the sky is finished, I began to paint the petals. This sunflower is more orange than the oth ...

sunflower #4: painting the center of the flower

25 days ago by mariescottstudios

Some areas of a painting require many layers of color. I make sure to allow time (at least a few days, but sometimes it can even be weeks) for each layer to dry. I painted the last of the remaining petals on this sunflower today. After I finished the petals on this sunflower, I began painting the center of the flower. I added more browns and blues to the center, but I need to let the paint dry now for a few days or it will turn into a muddy mess!

Painting more petals on Sunflower #4…

31 days ago by mariescottstudios

I'm back at work on my 4th sunflower. I started counter-clockwise on the petals today, working my way around the center. I've got about 4 more petals to go. I wish I had more time today, because I was on a roll and would have wanted to finish ALL the petals.

Chakra attention explained, do you attend to yours in any special way?

35 days ago by admin

Someone asked how am I spending time on each chakra. To explain in short, I do this: I’m only on the third chakra right now. I’ve taken a week for each of the first two chakras, red and orange. I am taking a week or so to focus on each one. I meditate and focus on each one. I apply it to my Yoga ses ...
